Hi, I'm Kara - a heartfelt hello and welcome.

Welcome to Dying to Help – I am Kara, and I am so glad that you have found your way here. I am a Palliative Care Nurse by day (which I absolutely love), and I also work as an End-of-Life Doula, Funeral Celebrant, Grief & Loss Coach, and Women’s Circle Facilitator in the Albury Wodonga region (NSW/VIC border). My mission is simple: to offer practical, compassionate, and non-judgemental support to individuals and families navigating life’s toughest transitions — from end-of-life care and funeral planning to grief coaching and women’s circles.

Whether it’s bedside care, crafting a meaningful ceremony, facilitating a grief circle, or offering personal grief coaching, I’m here to ensure you feel seen, heard, and supported.

I absolutely love living in the Albury Wodonga region. It’s home to me — I’ve been here since I was born, and it is where my heart lies. I am actively involved in the community, including participating in the Alpine Valleys Community Leadership Program, which has been a rewarding opportunity to connect with others and work towards positive change in my local area.

On my days off (when I actually get a break!), you will probably find me out stand-up paddleboarding on the weir, camping, or enjoying a delicious meal at one of our local restaurants. I love the simple pleasures of spending time with friends, exploring the outdoors, and supporting the great local businesses we have here.

With a Psychology degree from Charles Sturt University and nearly 10 years of experience as a Palliative Care Nurse, I have encountered many different faces of death and loss. I am also a qualified Death Doula (Life Options) and a Funeral Celebrant (The Funeral Fix).

The one thing I’ve learned over the years is that no two deaths are the same. But whether it is the end of a loved one and their life, or the grief that comes from any kind of loss, you do not have to face it alone. That is why I do what I do — to walk beside you during these moments, ensuring that your wishes are honoured and your family is supported.

Here’s a snapshot of my qualifications:

  • AHPRA Registered Nurse – Enrolled (Division Two) Nursing

  • Diploma of Nursing

  • Bachelor of Psychology (Charles Sturt University)

  • Funeral Celebrant – The Funeral Fix

  • Intensive End-of-Life Doula Course – Denise Love, Life Options

  • Designing a Healing Funeral – Dr Sarah Kerr PhD, Centre for Sacred Deathcare

  • Death Walker – 4-day Intensive Training, Zenith Virago, The Natural Death Care Centre

  • Grief & Loss Coach

  • Women’s Circle Facilitator

And of course, I am always learning and evolving to better support you in your journey.
